Craft ironwork

Traditional ironwork is one of our core skills, harking back to traditional forging techniques with iron heated over coals and shaped with a hammer, a power hammer or a forging press.

Twisting and shaping iron by heating it over a coal forge is ideal for operations such as stoving up, bending, modelling, stretching, swaging or drop-forging, twisting, flattening, expanding and driving.

We work the puddled iron known as “merchant iron” into unique pieces entirely hand-made according to plans. As often as not the methods of assembly remain traditional in the style of French ironwork and the ornaments (pieces in cast bronze, leaves, etc) add a decorative element which will be harmonised together at the finishing stage.
