Lycee Henri IV

The staircase, or rather the vestibule, which once formed the original entrance to the Ste Genevieve Abbey, and which allows access to the library, has been completely restored. It is one of the capital’s historic monuments. Several missing grills were crafted, following the designs of the existing ones and using the same techniques as those used in the XVIII century (tenons, mortices, use of pegs, half-lap joint, rivets …). The ironwork, forged entirely by hand, includes foliage in chased metal. The harmony and equilibrium to be found in this vast and complex of work in iron is particularly refined and successful. The XVII century banister has also been completely restored.
